Well... my story is rather dull, but it is true. One 0-dark-30 hour I walked into the large, brightly lit cafeteria in time to hear an hysterical housekeeper say to the cooking/serving staff, "It's true! Honest! I heard a young woman laughing. I thought it was one of you. When I went to look for her, she was always on the other side of the counter. The only thing I saw was just a little bit of movement. I told her to quit, but she just laughed louder. So I decided to run really fast around the counter and... there was no one there! But I know what I heard! She was laughing and I heard her run around the counter! But there was no one there!"
I asked the housekeeper to tell the story again. When she finished the cafeteria staff told me that a scary "something" had been keeping them company for a long, long time. Some liked the idea of a haunted cafeteria. Others were truly afraid.
I told them that the thing, whatever it was, would never bother them again. One looked relieved. One looked terrified ("Don't do anything! You'll just make it mad!"). The rest were silent, my job title keeping their words behind their teeth.
I went away. And I prayed. I asked Jesus to rid the premises of any thing that would harm or frighten staff.
The thing has not been seen - or heard - since.
