I'm a thirft store junkie. How about you? I collect old dishes made by Homer Laughlin, and my husband and I collect old book. What do you crave when you walk through the doors of your favorite thrift store?

I don't look through thrift stores, but I do collect... wait for it... nurse dolls :-) My mom has a HUGE collection of figurines, dolls, etc.
Otherwise, anything crafty pretty much seeks me out and attaches itself to my person. Fabric, stickers, beads, mosaic tiles... I am a magnet. I cannot go into a Michael's without shaking things off before I walk out :-) |

I wish I collected rock stars! Instead I collect debt on all the money I spend on rock star stuff!

books.....nothing special, just anything I like to read. My husband is trying to get me one of those "e-readers" because I have way too many books spread through our very small apartment

No matter how much time we ever spend on the computer, nothing will ever take the place of curling up with a good book!

Books are the most wonderful things in the world. They are more than objects on a shelf. Holding a good book is like holding a new world in your hands.

Ah yes, I'm a bibliophile from way back--and I live in the town with the most bookstores per capita as well as the highest library use....and the mother ship--Powell's (www.powells.com)
It's been hard being in school and having so much to read for courses and research that I don't get to do much pleasure reading. It's almost felt like "cheating" the few times I've had lay books assigned, like John M Barry's The Great Influenza if you haven't read it, it's a great read: really makes you aware of how far medicine has come in a very short time (the first 1/3 of the book is about the rise of the science of medicine). That's always my treat when I have down time: get to read some fiction, or something else that isn't so intense. |

Hey there! I collect nursing figurines and other nursing stuff. I think we all do or others collect it for us! I used to collect music globes but have moved on to hummingbirds. Boy what an estate sale my kids will have when I'm gone! Just kidding! I hope it won't be for a very long time! I am also an insatiable reader. I have noticed that many fellow nurses read a lot.

Yep, love my books, too. To me, they're like old friends, like I've gone through something with each book I've read.
