Please bear with me. I simply must tell you about this weekend.
A multitude of issues combined to make the work more challenging than it has ever been. Staff very deliberately responded to our unreasonable situation. Their collaborative and considerate manner ensured that patient care was timely and appropriate. And, AND just to top it all off, everyone treated me with courtesy (even the doctor who became furious when I told him he would have to ship a stable patient to another hospital because I had no more beds or staff). I work with some fantastic people! Joy |

That is great to know Joy. I think it is when nurses (and doctors too) have to step upto the mark, have to meet the challenges of a very difficult situation that they tend to be able to do their best work! Hard being the manager too - well done you!

It has been very challenging at my hospital lately as well. It can be very stressful when there are patients lined up to get in... and no one seems to be getting out.
It feels like I spent a good deal of time on the phone this weekend trying to get people to come in and work. As usual, people stepped up, even on their weekend off. People worked double shifts only to have to return that night for another shift. People came in early and stayed late. I, too, work with very dedicated and wonderful people! |
