Default special breed

Is it just me or do alot of people that are'nt in our profession not get what we do. We put the hard work into studying, make the sacrifices in our lives ,use our minds and put our soul into what we do. Work long hours get tired and mentally drained but still get up and go back for the next shift. For every bad shift, there is going to be a good one, for every patient we nurse with respect, dignity and care to the end when there is no medical cure, there is a patient who our care has made a huge difference to who can tell us thank you without ever speaking the words.
We are a special breed us nurses and deserve a huge pat on the back and a thank you every now and again for being who we are.
