Howdy!
I used to blog, then I stopped blogging(I was in a funk) now I'm blogging again. I decided since I was back inside the world wide web again I might as well join and meet some other nurses. I see some friends of mine are already on here (I never stopped reading...ya'll...honest!) I used to work on a busy Internal med/Surg unit at the city hospital. The hours and stress burned me out quick and now I'm working for an Endocrinologist/Infertility specialist. The hours are great and the work is fascinating. I love it! Looking forward to reading and learning more about Ya'll! ![]()

Welcome! We're glad you're here!
I think I've decided that I would love to work in a fertility clinic. Having gone through it all, I just think it would be something I'd be interested in. Was it a difficult position to find/get hired for? |

It could have been but wasn't. The clinic is run by a Large Company who uses a Human Resource department and they have locations all throughout the city. This is good for benefits and I think it prevents discrimination and personal bias.I interviewed with 3 people for the position. HR, the Nursing Supervisor, and the Doctor. We Actually "share" the clinic with 9 OB/Gyns. We have our own waiting room though.
I applied for the locations near me and they offered me a position here and one in Pediatrics (Not for me...I don't want to stick little ones). So I chose the Endo. I think it helped me to get hired because of my hospital background in Internal Med. I was already familiar with Thyroid/Pituitary disorders. The fertility stuff is all new and I'm still learning the drugs and protocols. Timing is EVERYTHING in fertility. I've already assisted with an IUI (IntraUterine Insemination) Which I think is really cool! I think I just happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Well congrats - that's very cool!
And good that there are two waiting rooms. The first time I read your post where it said Endocrinology/Fertility, I just read the "endo" part and thought it meant endoscopy. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why they'd pair endoscopy with fertility for a second :-) Ha! |

As far as the Endo thing, funny you should mention that. When I saw the listing and applied online, it just said "Endo" so that's what I thought too! Wouldn't mind actually working in Endoscopy. But now I'm glad it wasn't! ![]()
