This is a great forum and I can't get enough of the posts! I noticed Catherine of "Catherine Blogs" put it out there and thought I'd be brave too. Her blogs are great by the way...highly recommended!
I write a blog about alternative careers for nurses (RN's and LPN's). It's a subject I've been researching for almost 10 years. I've interviewed so many interesting nurses in all industries. I would be flattered if anyone on this board would pay a visit and leave a comment if you like. I always welcome feedback and thanks! Kate http://alternativenursingcareers.blogspot.com |

Welcome! I am not only an ER nurse, but also a forensic nurse and do death investigations. There's an alternative nursing career for ya! LOL.
Your blog looks very interesting. I'll have to read it more thoroughly when my time is not so limited. Glad you've joined us! |

Thanks for the welcome Jess and Polaris. I'm debating on what industry to post next...Forensics or Insurance (which will have to be broken down...lot's of careers in that one). I've only had the opportunity to interview a SANE nurse for my Forensics article. Would love to ask you a few questions about your career path and will give you credit or keep it anonymous...what ever you like. Drop a PM if you're interested and thanks again!

Polaris..... I was wondering......does somebody have to die to get a job in forensic nursing?
Seriously....it's so hard to get a job in forensic nursing here....it's political. The political party picks the coroner...(he's voted on) and then he picks his staff.

I see your alternative career is telephone triage this post!! I did that for nine months - absoluteley loved it...until I realized I missed the ER! Be sure to send a post for Change of Shift! Good to see you here!

Hi all,
I found this forum as I was searching for some interesting sites to include in my new blog and website. I have been the Guide to Nursing at About.com for 3 years and recently they decided to disband the nursing site in favor of a more comprehensive health careeers site. So I'm now moving all of my content to a new site and looking for new ways to spruce it up and add new content. Your blogs are all terrific!! I will have to work them into a new set of blogs over the next week or so. My readers have always been asking about alternative careers and now I know where to send them. So glad I had some time to spend here tonight.
