Just wanted to introduce myself.. I'm from Canada (Toronto). I am not yet a nurse but hopefully will be in the future! I am 23 and graduated from university last year with a B.A. in psychology and had planned to go to law school. But I had a huge change of heart and decided to try to become a nurse instead. So right now I'm waiting for responses from schools and just really enjoying reading about all of your experiences. They are so informative and quite entertaining! I really like this site and am very thankful I found it

I hope you have a great time in Calgary Indya! A good friend of mine lives out there and she says it's beautiful. Try and take advantage of your time in Toronto too! There are a lot of great restaurants and it's really just nice to walk around downtown and take in so much diversity.

LesleyJoy- It's funny because i really didn't know much about nursing until I started researching it for someone else. I didn't realize how vast it was..and how much you could do in the field. The more I learned about it, the more I wanted to do it. I kind of see nursing as this wonderful combination of mind, body, and spirit. I see it as a great compliment to my psych degree, but adding so much more by the complexity and hands on skilled work. Besides the obvious attractions including job stability and flexibility, I have always really enjoyed health and science, and helping people. I love that nursing offers so much diversity and roads to take. I can see myself getting my masters and even working in health policy years down the road. I also love the fact that nurses not only KNOW but they can DO. They have so much knowledge, and at the same time they are so skilled.. no matter what, they can do a lot of things that most of the population can't.. I think that's pretty cool! ... I think I could write a lot more about 'why nursing' but I see myself starting to ramble already and this post may be getting too long!

Littlebird- I applied to U of T's 2 year program as well as Humber's advanced standing program.. what was your first degree in? ?

My first degree was in Biology, which was great but I couldn't do much with it without going on to specialize. I actually did the advanced standing program at UNB, which is the university collaborating with Humber. What a small world. I have heard that the Humber program is a good one.
