Default Hello

Hi everyone, my name is Kelly, I'm 27 and live in Oregon. I just got accepted into an associate degree nursing program.

I am extremely excited and freaking out at the same time. Maybe that is a little of my anxiety talking. I just don't know what to expect. I do have a lot going on before I start in September. I am getting married in Agust and right afterwards we go on our honeymoon. Then when we come back we have to move because where we live now, it's about 2 hours from campus. I am not about to make that commute every day. So I am all over the place it seems like.

I do have exeprience. I have been a Medical Assistant for some time now. I graduated in 2001 and have done work here and there while going to school.

I have been working for a pediatric clinic for almost a year now and absolutely LOVE it! I just found my place and am in my comfort zone and now thats all changing, all with good reason though.

I guess you could say I am just a little anxious and have absolutely no clue what to expect of nursing school.

I joined the forum hoping that I have people to lean on through the entire process. I have read some great things and can't wait to see more.

Kelly

Welcome to Nursing Voices, I am sure that there will be lots of people around to offer you support along the way. What a busy few months you have coming up, look forward to hearing more about the wedding, honeymoon and then your experiences as you start that other journey!

Welcome, Kelly, to Nursing Voices. I hope to see you here often. Thank you for telling us about your wedding plans and the very busy life you have in store. You may certainly lean on us in this forum. This is a completely safe environment in which to ask questions, vent, celebrate, "think out loud," and generally enjoy the company of students and established RNs.

Onward, then. The best is yet to come.

Joy

Thanks for the encouragement. After I posted my thread I read a bunch of others. I think I spent 2 hours just reading about what other people have to say. It made me feel a little better.

I just think I have some anxiety with so much that there is to think about and then not knowing what to expect of nursing school. I think the not knowing is the hardest part for me.

I will keep everyone posted. We are going on a cruise to Alaska. Which will hopefully help me wind down from all the excitement of the wedding and get me prepared to move when we get back.

There are still some issues with my job at the pediatric clinic as to when I will be quitting. I say August 1, only because I have a class the first 2 weeks of August that replaces the CNA course. The class literally ends the day before the wedding. But then there are financial reasons for staying through the middle of September so we can get some stuff taken care of (money wise). I don't plan on working, my husband to be is very VERY supportive and will be taking on our financial situation all on himself. CRAZY!

Thanks again, I am sure I will be here quite a bit. This is the first forum that I have found that was easy to move around through.

Kelly
