It always confused me when people talked about "waiting lists". At my school, it's based on grades and the TEAS tests score. I got in the first time I applied. I didn't have to wait at all. Some people even get in right out of high school.

I went to Lansing Community College, in Lansing, MI, for 2 years - I didn't really know if I wanted to be a nurse then (I was only 17 - what does anyone know at 17?). I would have ended up waiting at least another year or so to get into their associate degree nursing program, which was a points-based system.

So, I transferred to a small school in Ohio called Cedarville University, got caught up in the prerequisites I hadn't covered at community college, and got into the bachelor degree nursing program in one year. Now, I'll be graduating in May.

Altogether it took me 3 years to get into a program, and 5 years to graduate with a BSN.

Default Try not to waste my time...

Good day everyone,
I think it is sweet how everyone is confirming how difficult it is to get into nursing school, but would it be possible for people to stick to good suggestions? I would like to read some solutions. Or, discuss only if you got into school fast. Honestly, it does not help to hear about how it used to be to get into nursing school. I need solutions. Thank you.

I started scool Aug. of 2006 and didn't finish pre-reqs until July 2008. I applied to the nursing program in July of 08 and will not be starting until May 09. In the meantime I was finishing up classes required to transfer to a four year college to get my BSN. It is very time consuming but if this is your calling it is definitely worth the wait .

Default the title of the thread...

is how long did you wait to get into school? Patience grasshopper, someone may reveal the secrets you are hoping for. New Zealand has the same nursing shortage as everywhere we don't have waiting lists but not every one neccessarily gets in. at my old schoolits a combination of grades and attributes and sometimes an entrance interview.

Default Ohio

I live in ohio and my school doesn't have a waiting list, they only take 60 students each year and the admission is based on the GPA.
