Hi there to all our members and visitors. You will notice some changes to Nursing Voices, in terms of color scheme and the categories. We would love to hear what you think about the look and feel of the place, and we would also love to hear more about the people who have joined Nursing Voices.

I am in my 40's and have been a nurse in the UK for 27 years. I have worked in lots of different areas of nursing (Medicine, District (home nursing), rheumatology as a specialist nurse and then in non clinical areas (education and now commissioning which is about making sure the right amount of money is spent providing the right services). I am married, have one teenage son and have recently completed a masters program.

Looking forward to hearing more about you too! :)

Hello to everyone out there. I found Nursing Voices not to terribly long ago and was addicted from the moment I visited. I registered and became a member.

So......you want to know some personal stuff huh? Well, I'm 51 years old and have two grown daughters ages 27 and 24. I have a wonderful husband whom I've been married to for 29 years. My highly self sufficient father lives with me and I think he likes my husband more than he likes me. My father and my family moved in together about 1 month after my mother died 7 years ago.

It seems like I've been an RN forever but it's only been 20 years. My first nursing job was on a general med-surg floor which I would recommend to every new graduate. It gives you "confidence" in things that we take for granted as more experienced nurses (ie: is that blood pressure I just took really that low or do I need to take it again?).

After my debut year, I moved onto CCU, then ICU and was "floated" one day to the ER and haven't left since. I have slowed down a bit; I recently went part time but I still pick up a lot of hours.

Well, there is probably a little bit more about me than you bargained for but I can get long winded on occassion.

As for the new look to Nursing Voices, I'm getting ready to check things out.

I seem to have a lot in common with MyOwnWoman! Were we separated at birth? ;)

I'm 50, have three kids (27, 23 and 17), two of which married this summer within six weeks of each other! I've been married for 28 years and I've been a nurse for 29. I've done med/surg, Coronary Care, Intensive Care, Telemetry Unit, Psych nursing, Pediatric telephone triage and Emergency (whew!). I've been in emergency for 17 years.

I'm enrolled in the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay BSN/LINC program which is their online BSN curriculum - if I hustle and have the money I can be done by the end of 2008. My goal is a MSN and teaching followed by a PhD and research by the age of 60.

I've been blogging for two years over at Emergiblog and am excited about the new look for Nursing Voices! :)
