Hey everyone. So for the people with a blog, I was just wondering how you spread the word about it and get traffic to your blog. Do you post the URL on forums, have the URL in your signature, etc.?

3. Sig line in email
4. List serves
5. Word of mouth
6. Publish articles both online and in print media
7. Press Releases
8. Exchange links with other related blogs
9. Open an account at places like MyBlogLog, Digg, Technorati, etc.
10. Utilize other networking sites such as LinkedIn, Ryze, etc.
11. Create a page at MySpace, Squidoo, etc

Wow...I guess I've learned a lot! How's that for a start?

Mine is a personal blog, though, and to maintain complete anonymity, I have to be slightly more cautious. For example, I don't publish in my signature line in my email. It all depends on your audience and whatnot.

Well, Kim would be the expert here..

I remember she had a post once where she offered some hints... the big ones I remember have already been mentioned, but they were...

1. Comment on other blogs
2. Post often
3. Link to blogs you enjoy

and basically, Lather, rinse and repeat!

It takes a lot of work to promote a blog. But, something I HAVE noticed is that some people will have blogs that just naturally attract readers. Just like famous people have that "it" factor, some blogs have it as well. It's an unteachable, indescribable quality that just makes some blogs jump to fame.

My blog does NOT have this it factor. I've been blogging for about seven years and have a fraction of the traffic of some blogs that have been around for months. But, I just laugh about it and remind myself that I blog for ME and not other people. If you're blogging only to increase traffic, I believe you're doing it for the wrong reason.

For blogs that HAVE reached fame, check out http://emergiblog.com or http://dooce.com watch them and see if you can figure out how they did it...and try to do the same :)

Start pages for your blog on social media, share all your articles, collaborate with other bloggers with links to each other sites, and create amazing content that people are willing to link to. I haven't used all of those methods for my own site (http://cna-classes-online.net) but guest posting is highly effective

- write more quality content (ie blog posts)
- leverage social media networking (get some industry leaders to interact with you & promote to their audience)
- use social sharing buttons so readers can easily share content with their network
- giveaways or promotions are a great tool to generate buzz!
- build an opt-in email list & a content program to engage your subscribers

here are some good examples of well marketed nursing sites:

www.thinkcnaonline.com (http://www.thinkcnaonline.com/)

Good luck! :pcguru:

Those are all good ideas. You can also:
- Use SEO strategies
- Do posts about important people that relate to your blog and have them link up to it on their social media to get more traffic
- be active and post often and link in to social media often as well

Good luck bloggers!
