I'm writing a book for prospective nursing students about the pros and cons of a nursing career. I want to include a section about what nurses really do--a review of a typical day sort of thing. I'm looking for hospital med-surg RNs on all shifts. I haven't worked as a nurse for more than ten years, and I want to be able to describe what it's like now. Can anybody help? Thanks.

OMG.... All I can think is... you're gonna need a LOT of paper for these answers...

I think a good way to start would be a literature review on graduate nurses...and then if you have any connections to an inpatient setting, perhaps you could find a way to participate in the graduate nursing orientation. Blog-surfing for new(er) RN blogs might be a good way to start as well.
