Hello everyone,

I have been a nurse for 7 years. I have in home care pediatrics for 6. I have decided to return to school to get a Masters in Nursing. I want to be a nurse practicioner in pediatrics. My question is, Do i need hospital experience in order to become a nurse practicioner?

I would think that they might give you some placements during your course (I know some of them do).

However I think this is a question for the University that you are applying for.:dontknow:

Seeing as how many NPs work as primary care providers I would think not. But as P/J said, check with the program you're interested in. Many programs have regular information sessions where you can find out more about the program and get questions answered.
