Hi! I just joined this forum and would like to interact with any students or teachers at accelerated nursing schools. This looks like a friendly forum and I am glad I found it. Thanks google!

Howdy!

Not sure what you mean by 'accelerated program'. I did a second degree program. 16 months for a BSN. Basically we came into the program in the junior year, when the 'kids' began their core nursing courses. Originally the second degree students were going to do it in 16 months by not taking a summer break; and the regular students were to take 24 months because of the summers off. As it is, the program now has everyone do 16 months straight and get it done. A certain number of spots are reserved in each class for the second degree students, but everyone takes the same courses and does the same work.

Things are crazy busy, MJ; but I don't want to hijack nursingfan's thread. We are rapidly approaching the busiest time on the Jewish calendar; so I'm really busy with community stuff as well as ER and flight shifts. On top of that, I did pretty poorly on the yearly competencies for my flight job, so I'm a bit driven to do some review and remediation rather than let myself slide like that.

Nursingfan, what are you considering? What are your options? Tell us more! :)

I'm in a decelerated program. It's a second degree for me as well, but I didn't want the breakneck pace that the accelerated students went through. So I finish 1 semester after them, but 2 semesters before the traditional students.
