Default Dealing with Death

I have recently experienced a situation in which I was caring for a patient diagnosed with end-stage cancer and very little time to live. The family all came to the hospital to visit, and when giving nighttime medications, they were all crying. How can you be a caring nurse, complete your tasks, and maintain a professional standard? It was so hard not to cry too even though I'd never known this patient before that day. Would it ever be accepatble to cry too?
