Default Ethics Issue

Hello everyone.

Recently I accidents took home a narcotic (IV) and when I got home and discovered the mistake I called the charge nurse and emailed my director. Long story short I was fired for "illegal narcotic possession" and escorted out of the building by security.

Prior to termination I submitted to a urine and blood drug test. I returned the still sealed vial of medication, called and informed the charge nurse, and emailed my director. The other interesting thing is when I was fired there set other instances of missing narcotics for which I was surprised to hear about. Why had I not heard about these before, or had been investigated, or at least questioned about...?

I did the right thing and notified them immediately and submitted to drug testing. But did they do the right thing by me?
