Default New job?

Friends,

I have an interview Monday for the position of acute care manager at a critical access hospital out in the middle of nowhere. The countryside is spectacular. The opportunity is just about as great.

Gulp.

Tomorrow I will go shopping for an outfit that does not look like it was new twenty pounds ago. And... what else... don't know. Can't think.

Just wanted to share the news - and to ask for your suggestions and advice.

Joy

Congratulations of the opportunity to interview and good luck LesleyJoy!

Suggestions and advice? Probably not much you don't already know, but I'd say do your homework: find out as much as you can about the place: vision, mission, turnover, positive and negative reports. Prepare not only to answer their questions but to ask questions that will help you determine if it's a good fit--remember, they have to sell themselves to you as much as you have to sell yourself to them.

I agree with Marachne.... have some good questions to ask them, as well.

Other than that, be yourself! You are a positive, upbeat, compassionate and intelligent person.

Maybe do a search for some sites that give interview tips and sample interview questions, just to brush up on your answers and practice a little.

And most of all - good luck! Please let us know how it goes.

Great news Joy and good luck with the interview (and the shopping). Not much to add to the above, preparation is the key I always think, the area, the kinds of staff and patients there will be, the vision and values of the organization and what special thing you will be able to bring.

There must be change in the air as I have applied for a new job too and am waiting to year about an interview!

Thank you, Everyone, for the good wishes and the advice. I am impressed by the opportunity the job offers to:
- live in a tiny ranching community
- foster and maintain a nursing culture that provides superb care via both the art and science of medicine.

I will most certainly let you know how things progress.

Joy
