I won't mind working holidays too much. I would like to have New Year's Eve off idealy - being it is my birthday - But otherwise until I have a family of my own I will work and let others spend the needed time with family and children.

I don’t actually mind working on holidays especially if the work force needs me! I am very much willing to give my time, and the good thing is my family understands the nature of my work very well and I too is aware of this possibilities when I enrolled in the nursing school.

I worked every holiday and weekend imaginable when I was single and had "little" responsibility. When you're young and have lots of school debt, you take up any opportunity to get the hours to put you ahead. Boy did that not last long. I did this for about 4 years like a robot until I was exhausted and gained a lot of grey hairs. Everything changed once I met my husband and after children, life got even more busier. Now a days, I just let the younger staff "go at it" and fight for the weekends. I'm fortunate to be at a hospital where there are plenty of people willing to take the shifts (My colleagues are at hospitals where its forced)
