Default Woot!

I kicked butt my first semester--I had to share with SOMEONE that would appreciate my anxiety over the last few months So I got all A's in my nursing classes, and a B+ in my religion class (not nursing related, just required since it's a Catholic university).

I now have a week off before next term starts...what the heck to I do with myself? Since grades have been posted, I went on a mad cleaning spree of my house, I've walked the dogs more times than they ever care to move, and I've gardened like a fiend.

How did the rest us in school do? Am I the only one that made myself crazy this semester?

Congratulations!!

I imagine that you are not the only one who became a little crazy during school. Learning is hard work. Furthermore, the stressors of too little sleep, fear of failing, and the wouldas/couldas/shouldas can - and do - tip people right over the edge.

I remember with gratitude the words of a friend of mine as I was preparing for a particularly unpleasant examination: "Just get through it," she said. "You already know that stuff. Just get through it." Her encouragement enabled me to see beyond the immediate and into the future.

Congratulations again on your stellar work! And thank you, too, for not only sharing your good news, but for sharing how you are defusing/unwinding at semester's end. When you have nothing left to do, please come to my house. The windows need cleaning, the garden is overgrown, and the dust bunnies under the bed have developed language. HELP!!

Default good thoughts

Well if anyone wants to throw some spare good thoughts my way tomorrow around 1 p.m. pacific daylight time, I'll be taking my oral candidacy exams -- 2 hours of question answering w/only one piece of paper in hand. (I did get 3 questions 3 weeks in advance, but there will be more going on then those three questions--and I have to get over the performance anxiety around both remembering ('cause it's true, I do know this stuff), and speaking in such a way that I sound coherent and reasoned, not a blithering fool
