I was using blogspot but then friend hooked me up with a paid account at a hosting site, and I like it much better than the free blogs since you have a bit more control of the content and the layout of it.

My blog has information for those looking to get a job in nursing informatics as entry level candidates.

There are topics like nursing informatics interviewing tips or simply, what do informatics nurses do based on real life experience.

For the people with a blog, do you have a blog that's free (Blogger, Wordpress) or do you have your own domain? If you do have your own domain/website, how much does it cost a year and is it quite easy to set up? Do you find any advantages over having a domain or would you have rather had a free blog?

Thanks all!
Personally I think if your gonna do it...then do it right and go for domain name. You will have to research a bit to find a domain name that is not taken. The cost for domain name is about 10 dollars for one year. Then you have to get site to host your webpage (you can purchase domain name and get hosting from same site usually). The cost is about 3 dollars a month to host your site. You then can download wordpress to start your website build out. Its depends on what you want the site to be. If you just want a place to post how you feel that day...then blog site is suffice. If you want to build something that maybe you can advertise or sell products on down the road...then domain site is your best bet.

Even if you run Wordpress you still need your own domain name and hosting. Cost will vary depending on which hosting plan you choose.
I have a nursing blog for people interested in entering the career of nursing and looking for nursing classes...lots of good articles updated twice a week.

I use the independent wordpress version, only because I am able to be more flexible.

I use Wordpress for my own site (http://cna-classes-online.net) just because it's incredibly easy to use and allows for tons of customization
